About Eugene, Oregon
Although Eugene, with more than 100,000 residents, is the second-largest
city in Oregon, tie-dyed T-shirts are more common than silk ties on downtown
streets. This laid-back character is due in large part to the presence of the
University of Oregon, the state's liberal arts university.
Being ranked amongst the top five college towns in the West doesn't
mean for academics only. Love for the great outdoors and all of its
recreational opportunities are a must for people living in Eugene.
For those interested in physical activities a walk, run, or bike ride on
one of the many river paths can take you from one end of
Eugene/Springfield to the other.
If you are more interested in
enjoying a little "R & R", a scenic drive to the Oregon coast or
camping at one of the abundant campgrounds near the beach may be in
order and don't forget to stop for a warm cup of clam chowder at Mo's
located in Old Town Florence while enjoying your coastal adventure.
With both the McKenzie and Willamette rivers flowing through the city,
Eugene is great for an array of activities and incredibly beautiful
scenery.
